3 die following torrential rains, Bagre dam spillage

At least three persons have so far died in the North East region following days of torrential rains and the spillage of the Bagre dam in neighbouring Burkina Faso.

Several communities in the North East and Upper East regions have been cut off, with farmlands submerged and scores displaced as a result of the floods.

The North Eastern Regional Director of NADMO, John Kwaku Alhassan told sister station Starr Fm that two of the deaths were recorded about a week ago, with the latest casualty recorded Thursday.

He’s appealed to philanthropists to assist with relief items to distribute to the victims.

The Bagre Dam spillage, a yearly ritual as a result of the rise in water levels of the dam, just happened last week.

There has been another spillage of the dam, happening for the second consecutive time  following high rainfall in Burkina Faso, this week.
