Akyem Sakawa Boys Leader Flares Up and charges religious leaders to talk

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, the leader of the Akyem Mafia “family and friends” government has hypocritically vented out his anger on why his kinsmen are being referred to as Akyem Mafia Sakawa boys. At a meeting with the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Ghana at the Jubilee House, the President angrily bemoaned why people were tagging his tribesmen as mafias and Sakawa boys.

In the words of Nana Akufo-Addo “Sometimes, one would hope when things come out, people will comment on them. The comment made by my opponent: ‘Akyem Sakawa’ people, I have not heard any public figure in this country or anybody comment on it.”

One wonders why Nana Addo is bewailing when all that Ghanaians are asking of him is to halt his corrupt style of governance that he and his kinsmen are carrying out at our expense. The controversial PDS deal has so far been left un-investigated even though the country lost huge sums of money simply because the Akyem Mafia were involved. With that “snake” having already bitten us, we (Ghanaians) are now wiser and very wary and want full disclosure on PDS scandal just like what we are now demanding on the hideous Agyapa Mineral Royalties deal, even though President Nana Akufo-Addo stubbornly refuses to have any independent investigations conducted.

It is very hypocritical on the part of President Akufo-Addo to be complaining and grieving when he is only being served a dose of his own medicine. When Nana Addo was in opposition and even now that he is in power he doesn’t hesitate to publicly criticise his opponents calling them all manner of names like Thief, Professor Do Little, Professional Jeremiahs and Naysayers etc. Even persons in Nana Addo’s inner circle have on countless occasions publicly insulted and called persons of other tribe’s all manner of “unprintable names” and have even called for persons of some tribes to be killed. When these unsavoury utterances and remarks were being made by his close associates, Nana Addo didn’t approached any public figures to publicly condemn and speak against such errant and vile public utterances.

It was not long ago that members of the President’s NPP party were up against Ewes being registered as voters because they thought Ewes are not Ghanaians but rather Togolese. On these occasions the President was silent probably because these developments inured to his political benefit and political ambitions. It is therefore interesting to hear President Akufo-Addo make damning ethnocentric comments barely a week after condemning ethnocentric politics at Amedzofe in the Volta Region. President Nana Akufo-Addo by commenting that if he were to get up one day and make comments about Northerners or Gonja’s, one could imagine the uproar that it will generate in the country and many would consider such remarks to be very unfortunate, un-presidential, petty and unintelligent. Ghanaians must therefore seek explanation from Nana Akufo-Addo on his apparent aversion and dislike for Gonja’s or Northerners.

In another vein Nana Akufo-Addo complained about criticism of his government. Is it not incomprehensible that under the same democratic dispensation where he (Nana Addo) was in opposition and saw nothing wrong by always criticizing the government because he wanted to replace the regime but now that he is in power as president he does not want anybody to criticize him despite his maladministration and poor leadership? Nana Addo clearly wants every citizen to be deaf and dump and even blind to allow him and his Sakawa Boys unfettered access to plunder our resources. Nana Addo ought to understand that Ghanaians will not allow that to happen now; and that the same calabash will be used to serve water to everyone. Akufo-Addo must brace up for the fight he himself has called for.
