It has come to light that Prof Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, a law lecturer at the University of Ghana Law School who got killed on Thursday in his mansion at Adjirigano, East Legon, Accra, was tied up by his killers and shot multiple times.
Yaw Benneh, who was on post retirement contract at the University of Ghana, was allegedly overpowered by his assailants after a brief struggle in his bedroom, tied up and shot to death.
The killers, who had somewhat entered the mansion with any signs of a break-in, then locked back the doors and closed the gates at the entrance and left.
The crime, which happened on Thursday, was discovered this morning after Prof Benneh’s errand boy went to the mansion to check on him after not hearing from him since Thursday.
To his surprise, the doors to his rooms were locked. The errand boy then called upon Prof Benneh’s sister who asked that the doors be forced open.
When the doors were opened, the putrefying body was discovered. And the East Legon Police called in.
The matter is being investigated by the police while the body has been deposited at the morgue for preservation pending autopsy.
