The Techiman Kentenhene and Dabehene of the Techiman Traditional Council has praised the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeyor Akumfi Ameyaw IV, for the successful organisation of the 2026 Appor Festival climax, which took place on March 27, 2026.
He made the commendation during an exclusive interview with our reporter at the grand durbar of the festival. The event attracted thousands of people, including traditional leaders and residents, who thronged the streets of Techiman to take part in the vibrant cultural procession and celebrations.
“I would like to take this opportunity to greet and commend the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeyor Akumfi Ameyaw IV, for making Appor 2026 a success.”

According to him, the huge turnout and enthusiastic participation clearly indicate that the people of Techiman had greatly missed the Appor Festival, which remains one of the most important cultural events in the traditional area.
Speaking on behalf of the Techiman Traditional Council, Oheneba Owusu Antwi Boasiako II expressed sincere gratitude to residents, indigenes, and visitors for coming out in large numbers to support and celebrate the festival. He described the massive attendance as highly encouraging and vital for preserving the area’s rich cultural heritage.
“Looking at the crowd and their participation in today’s activities, it clearly shows that the people of Techiman have truly missed the Appor Festival. On behalf of the Techiman Traditional Council, I would like to thank them for turning out in their numbers.”
He revealed that the Appor Festival had not been observed for six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other unavoidable circumstances that disrupted its continuity.

Nevertheless, he noted that the overwhelming response to this year’s celebration reflects strong community interest and points to even greater participation in future editions.
“The Appor Festival was not held for six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances beyond our control. However, judging by how residents, indigenes of Techiman, and visitors have embraced this year’s festival, it shows that next year’s celebrations will be even more massive.”
Nana Kentenhene assured that the 2027 edition of the Appor Festival will be significantly bigger and more spectacular than this year’s event. He urged the public to prepare for a grander showcase of Techiman’s rich culture and traditions.
“We can assure all and sundry that Appor 2027 will be far more massive than what we have witnessed this year. So, if you want to experience the beautiful, rich culture and traditions of Techiman, prepare for Appor 2027, because it will be massive.”

The festival is scheduled to continue today, March 28, and on Sunday, March 29, with the Fetish Priest Dance among the key activities lined up. These remaining events are expected to further highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Techiman Traditional Area through various traditional performances and displays.
