Mahama’s campaign has fallen in water – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo is fuming over what he calls a campaign of lies and propaganda by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama.

Nana Akufo-Addo says the former President is struggling to convince Ghanaians with his campaign messages hence has resorted to untruths.

The President was speaking at a rally at East Legon in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency to wrap up his two-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.

“Mahama’s campaign has fallen in the water. His campaign has landed in confusion, misrepresentations and outright fabrications. That is the campaign of John Dramaning Maham today in Ghana.”

“You cannot go to the presidency of Ghana with lies and fabrications. The Ghanaian people will not allow that to happen,” President Akufo-Addo said.

He had recently criticised Mr. Mahama for saying his administration started the Free SHS policy.

President Akufo-Addo feels Mr. Mahama is telling lies to trick Ghanaians into voting him back to the presidency.

Mr. Mahama during his tour of the Upper East Region insisted that he started the free SHS policy before President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over.

“We started the programme and the NPP came and continued it. Unfortunately, the implementation has been very poor, and so it ended us in double-track.”

But President Akufo-Addo maintains that the “lies” from the NDC presidential candidate “are borne out of one thing, and that is his campaign is failing to catch up with the electorate.”

“He has seen that his campaign is collapsing in confusion, fabrications and now outright lies.”
