I saw Nitiwul order armed soldiers to invade parliament – Murtala Mohammed swears

Member of Parliament(MP) for Tamale Central Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed says he can confirm that the Minister of Defence Dominic Nitiwul called the Military into the Chamber of Parliament.

The Military moved into Parliament when tempers were heightened. According to some Parliamentarians, the presence of the Military is representative of a coup d’tat.

But speaking to Joy News in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Murtala Mohammed indicated that he can confidently say that the Defence Minister called in the Soldiers.

“I can say on record that it is the Defence Minister who called in the Military,” he said.

Adding that “I insist that Hon Nitiwul invited the armed Military men to the Chamber. When he made the call, I confronted him. That is why there should be a thorough investigation. I have prove and other members of Parliament can testify too”.

He indicated that he told the Defence Minister that it was unnecessary and a blurr on Parliament to bring in the Military.

To him, the martials were available and could be used for the purpose for which the Military was brought in.

On the snatching of the ballot papers, Murtala Mohammed called on the NPP to punish the Member of Parliament for Tema West Carlos Ahenkorah to serve as a deterrent to others.
