Kumasi: 27 Nigerians arrested in Kumasi for cyber crime

The enforcement section of the Operations Department of the Ghana Immigration Service has arrested 27 Nigerians involved in suspected cybercrime at Appiedu near Tech in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi through intelligence.

They’re all male suspected internet fraudsters aged between 16-26 years. A search conducted on them retrieved 27 laptops with accessories.

Only one of the suspects who were picked on Friday at about 12:35 pm had a Nigerian identity card.

Speaking to the media in Kumasi, Superintendent Mohammed Manan of the Operations Department of the Ghana Immigration Service said, the suspects after being kept in police custody since Friday are being prepared for repatriation.

He said the suspects after interrogation disclosed they entered the country through unapproved routes a month ago.

He said the Immigration Service command is organizing a bus to convene them back to Nigerian in before the end of the week.

The Regional Command is therefore urging the residence of Kumasi to volunteer information of illegal foreign nationals who stay illegally in the country.

They also urging landlords in the country not to rent out their estate facility illegal foreign nationals to use them for criminal activities is a threat to national security.
