A stroke of lightning that accompanied Saturday evening’s torrential downpour, struck one person to death at Sewua in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region, MyNewsGh.com reports.
Twenty-four (24) year-old Akwasi, popularly known in the town as ‘Yaa Pono’ was said to be taking cover from the rain with his friend behind a school building when the lightning strike him to death.
“He was sitting behind the school building with his friend at the time of the rain; as you know ‘boys boys’, they were thinking about themselves and the lighting struck into him and burnt his chest”, an eyewitness told MyNewsGh.com.
Residents of the town say they are shocked by the incident.
In a related development, a middle-aged man was reportedly washed away by floodwaters in the same vicinity at Esreso Adagya on Friday night.
The Friday night incident happened on the broken bridge over the Ankonim River, where six Jehovah’s Witnesses drowned in September 2018.
It has been raining continuously in the Ashanti region for the past todays, affecting many social and commercial activities.
