WATCH: Ghana is hot; our girlfriends are moving to Togo – Justice 4 Ghana stage demo to Parliament

‘Country is hot, our girlfriends are moving to Togo’, is one of the inscriptions that highlighted the demonstration staged by the Justice 4 Ghana group on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

Dubbed the ‘Yentumi Ahokyere’ demonstration, the group hit the streets today in their numbers to march to parliament to make their grievances on the 2022 budget heard by Members of Parliament

Initially, the leadership of Justice 4 Ghana had planned to lead the group through the capital before proceeding to parliament.

However, following talks with the Ghana Police Service, it was agreed that protesters will converge at Efua Sutherland Park and move to the Parliament House to present their petition.

Complying with the Police, members of Justice 4 Ghana joined by members of the public jammed to Peter Tosh’s ‘Equal Right’ song en route to present their petition to parliament.

Upon reaching Parliament and being denied access to the premises where they had planned to demonstrate as well, the group slept on the lawns of the forecourt, insisting that they will not go home until the E-Levy is withdrawn by parliament.

Although they would eventually take their pillows and go home, they note that the next line of action will follow if parliament refuses to bin the E-Levy.

“We have left parliament but that does not mean we are ending here. We have presented our petition and in due time we will take the next line of action

“Our number one concern is that e-levy should be scrapped from the budget. Any tax that will bring suffering to Ghanaians should be reviewed,” Desmond Twumasi Ntow who is a leading member of Justice 4 Ghana told Asempa FM in an interview this evening.
