The Adaklu District Assembly in the Volta region is still without a District Chief Executive following the rejection of a third nominee, Mrs. Juliana Kpedekpo on Wednesday.
The nominee, polled only 9-Yes votes as against 10-No votes at a sitting of some 19 members of the Assembly, representing just 47.4 per cent.
The results mean that the nominee has been rejected outrightly and leaves the door further open for the search of a DCE for the Adaklu District.
Phanuel Kadey Donkor, the immediate past District Chief Executive was the first casualty, having been rejected twice by the Assembly members some months ago in his attempt to secure a second term in President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
A second nominee, Bright Kwame Nyatsikor, could also not secure the two-thirds majority threshold on two counts, following his nomination by President Akufo-Addo.
During Wednesday’s sitting, Presiding Member of the Adaklu District Assembly, Rev. Fred Agbogbo in an open message, called for broader consultation with the traditional authority and other relevant stakeholders in the area in ensuring that the search for a new DCE is resolved.
Until her recent nomination, Mrs Kpedekpo who holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance was the Financial Secretary of the NPP in Adaklu.
Her rejection on Wednesday means that the Adaklu District remains the only District out of 18 in the Volta region without a DCE but that is only because the Akatsi North District which was also without a DCE finally confirmed the third nominee, Peter Simon Kofi Ofosu earlier in the day.
