We need more cinemas to revive the Ghanaian film industry – Stanley Ofoetsu Porturphy

Celebrated Ghanaian film producer and production manager Moses Stanley Ofoetsu Porturphy popularly known within the Ghanaian film industry as Nene has opined that the Ghanaian film industry can only be revived through the creation of more cinemas.

Speaking during a film industry conference in Europe about the Ghanaian film industry he said that it is an open fact that the film industry is dead.

He emphasized that there is a need to reintroduce cinematography to promote Ghanaian movies in various cities and communities to make them more acceptable and patronized by the indigenous people.

“No matter how many movies producers make and how good the story is, we don’t have enough cinemas even in the capital city to show them to the audience.

He ended that people in other parts of the country have to get used to the cinema lifestyle.

“Three cinemas in a country like Ghana isn’t the right way to go. We need investors who will invest in building world-class cinemas. Trust me this will
Change the face of the movie industry”, he added.
