Act as a vice president and stop being jocular – Kwakye Ofosu

A former Deputy Minister of Information has admonished the Vice President to stop usurping the functions of ordinary serial callers and rather conduct himself with sobriety and candour befitting of the high office he occupies.

Speaking on JoyNews’ TV programme, Pm Express, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia that “it is expected that once you transition to become vice president, you are only a heartbeat away from the presidency, so your conduct and approach must be similar to that of a president. You must bring sobriety, candour and depth to the office

“This Vice President has taken too much delight in … propaganda,” he added

The National Democratic Congress communication team member, who was reacting to claims by the Vice President, that John Dramani Mahama, a former president, has nothing to show as a legacy for his time in government said “there is no shortage of facts to completely blow the Vice President’s false claims out of water.

“There is not a single government under this Fourth Republic that has put more money in investments for the people than President Mahama’s government,” he pointed out.

Comparing the record of the Vice President,Bawumia, who is the head of the Government’s Economic Management Team to that of former President John Mahama, who between 2009 and 2012 occupied similar positions, Felix Ofosu Kwakye said according to the records of the two, Bawumia “cannot claim to be the best thing that happened to Ghana.”

Mr Ofosu said in 2009,  the Mahama led Economic Management Team grew the economy by 4.8%,  10% in 2010,  and by 14.4%  and 9% in the years  2011 and 2012 respectively.

However, Dr Bawumina as head of the Economic Management Team in 2017 grew the economy by 8.1%, 6.3% in  2018 and in 2019 it grew by 6.3 %, he added.
