African football witnessed two pitch invasions in the space of four days as Comoros Island fans trooped to the field on Monday following their goalless draw with Egypt in a 2021 AFCON qualifier at the Maroni Stadium.
Comoros ranked 142nd in the world put up a spirited performance to hold the seven times African champions as their fans could not help but forced the inner perimeter gate opened, ignoring security to go on the pitch to celebrate few seconds after the the referee blew his final whistle.
The Maroni pitch invasion comes just some few days after Awal Suleman had invaded the Cape Coast pitch during Ghana’s 2-0 win over South Africa.
It is not known yet whether CAF will sanction the home fans as how they rushed to the stadium could have caused a stampede.
Comoros are now having four points in Group G after defeating Togo in their first game
