The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is calling for film entries from across Africa to commemorate its 20th anniversary ceremony. This year, 2024, marks its 20th anniversary, celebrating the rich tapestry of films and filmmakers across Africa.
This call is necessitated by an extension for late entries, now due by the 10th of August. The dream of recognizing and elevating African storytelling through cinema was conceived by AMAA’s founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, a visionary of blessed memory.
The story of networking and rewarding great African filmmakers is incomplete without Peace Anyiam-Osigwe. Her unwavering efforts, commitment, and dedication have been instrumental in the growth of Nollywood and the African film industry.
Through her contributions and achievements, the world of cinema honors the creativity, innovation, and hard work of Africa’s filmmakers across the globe. Since its inception, AMAA has been dedicated to promoting excellence in film, fostering a thriving network of professionals, and shining a spotlight on the extraordinary talents that shape the industry.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2024, we eulogize the great contributions of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and re-enact her mission of offering a platform that connects industry veterans and newcomers alike, fostering collaboration and innovation.
The call for submissions for the 20th edition of the AMAA has been extended to accommodate entries from across Africa. We welcome feature films, short films, documentaries, etc., produced and released between January 2023 and July 2024.
