Airbus Bribery Scandal: ‘Prosecute Mahama if you are man enough’ – King Zuba dares govt

A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Obuasi, Kwasi Fori Agyemang Boadi, also known as King Zuba has challenged the Akufo-Addo administration to arrest and prosecute former President John Dramani Mahama if it believes that the former President took bribes or is fully involved in the airbus scandal, and stop the media trials.

He said the media trials and ‘long talks’ is an indication the Akufo-Addo government has no evidence against the former President.

The former MCE made the call during his submission on Angel in the morning, hosted by Kwame Tanko on Monday, February 3.

“I dare you (gov’t) to prosecute Mahama if you have evidence. You think we are not aware of your scandals and corrupt practices? If you are men enough go ahead and hang him; if not you’re women…thieves,!” he fumed on the show.

He challenged the government to show evidence before prosecution adding that the former president is not above the law.

“KT, they must show Ghanaians the supposed evidence before prosecution of any sort. Mahama like any other Ghanaian is not above the law and can be prosecuted. He’s not bigger than laws of this land, but there must be evidence, that’s my point,” he added

Following news of the Crown Court at Southwark in the United Kingdom’s judgement on 31st January, 2020, between the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and Airbus SE, in which the European multinational aerospace corporation was fined $3.9 billion for the payment of bribes to secure deals in five countries, including Ghana, the Office of the President has issued a statement charging the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, to investigate the Airbus bribery scandal and the complicity of any public official who may have been involved in the saga.

“The attention of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been drawn to a 31st January, 2020, judgement of the Crown Court at Southwark, in the United Kingdom, between the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and Airbus SE, in which the European multinational aerospace corporation has been fined $3.9 billion for the payment of bribes to secure deals in five countries, including Ghana….

“…President Akufo-Addo has taken notice of the judgement and its implications, and has referred it to the Office of Special Prosecutor to collaborate with its UK counterparts to conduct a prompt inquiry to determine the complicity or otherwise of any Ghanaian government official, past or present, involved in the said scandal, and to take the necessary legal action against any such official, as required by Ghanaian law,” the statement read.
