Airport Authorities set rules for reopening

As part of preparations towards the opening of the Kotoka International Airport, authorities have outlined a list of rules to be observed.

70 sampling collection booths have been set up at the upper level of the Arrival Hall where all arriving passengers would be required to take a PCR test.

The tests according to the Airport Authorities will be ready in 15 minutes.

The results of each test will be transmitted to the port health stations electronically by a state-of-the-art laboratory being set up and expected to be completed before reopening of the airport.

All passengers who test negative will then be cleared by Port Health to continue with other processes to enter into the country.

Passengers who test positive will be handed over by port health authorities to health professionals at the facility to be sent for treatment at isolation centres.

No passenger will be required to go through the usual mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, announced during his 14th COVID-19 address to the nation that the re-opening of Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), will be possible by September 1, only if the airport authorities are able to test each passenger upon arrival.

Airport Authorities are putting in place every necessary to make sure that happens.
