Akufo-Addo congratulates Ouattara over his third term electoral victory

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara for his electoral victory in the Ivorian election.

Nana Akufo-Addo said he hoped that within the period of his tenure of office, he will not only help strengthen the already strong relations between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, but also help accelerate the realisation of the vision of regional integration.

Nana Akufo-Addo congratulated Mr Ouattara after Ivory Coast’s Constitutional Council formally ratified his re-election to a third term after a tense election that was marred by clashes and an opposition boycott.

Opposition leaders had called on supporters to boycott the electoral process, saying Ouattara’s bid for a third term was unconstitutional.

Ivory Coast has two Presidential term limit but Ouattara insisted a new constitution in 2016 allows him to run again.
