Apam drowning: Akufo-Addo donates GHC36k to bereaved families

President Akufo-Addo has donated an amount of GHC36,000 to the bereaved families of the Apam drowning.

This was done when the President commiserated with the bereaved families through the Minister for fisheries.

The President’s donation was delivered by Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson (MP), and the Central Regional Minister Justina Marigold Assan.

Thirteen bodies of children have so far been retrieved from the river after they went swimming last Sunday.

The ages of the retrieved bodies are within the range of 13 and 17. Two of them are females and 11 are males.

Mass burial is set for Tuesday, March 16, 2021, the District Chief Executive Officer, Bismark Baisie Nkum said in a statement.

“13 dead bodies have been retrieved from the sea along these coastal communities in Gomoa West District: Gomoa Abrekum, Gomoa Mankoadze and Apam. The ages of the retrieved bodies are within the range of 13 and 17. Two of them are females and 11 are males,” the DCE said.
