Atebubu-Amantin: MCE rallies support for Tree for Life Initiative

The Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu-Amantin, Hon. Mas’ud Musah Ayarba Thomas, has called on residents of the municipality to play an active role in ensuring the healthy growth and survival of trees planted as part of this year’s historic “Tree for Life” initiative.

Speaking at the official launch of the Bono East Regional “Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative” in Atebubu. the Municipal Chief Executive revealed that addressing environmental degradation, particularly deforestation, is a shared responsibility that demands collective action.

He described the tree-planting effort as more than a ceremonial act, stressing its long-term impact on the ecosystem and future generations.

“We recognize that our environment is facing numerous challenges from deforestation to climate change. It is our collective responsibility to address these challenges and work towards a sustainable future. Planting trees may seem like a small gesture, but collectively it has a significant impact, each tree we plant during this initiative is a symbol of hope, a promise for a greener and healthier tomorrow.” He disclosed.

Hon. Mas’ud Musah Ayarba Thomas pledged the full support of the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly in ensuring that  majority of the trees planted survive and thrive. He also encouraged Ghanaians, especially residents of the Bono East Region, to fully embrace the initiative by planting trees in their homes, farms, schools, and communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu-Amantin also expressed optimism that the favorable weather conditions would aid in nurturing the seedlings into strong, lasting trees.

“I therefore pledge the support of this assembly and our commitment to ensure that majority of these trees that are going to be planted under this initiative will survive. I also want to encourage every Ghanaian, especially we in the Bono East region, to embrace this initiative and plant trees around our homes, farms, schools and communities.” He stated.

“It is my prayer and hope that with the good weather on our side, we will nurture the seedlings that will be provided to us with care and work them to grow to mighty trees that will stand tall years to come.” He said.
