Ballots of Printing Ballot Papers: NDC agents are sleeping – Kweku Baako

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Abdul Kweku Baako has shot down claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) the Electoral Commission (EC) is printing excess ballot papers ahead of the December 7 polls.

“I am sure the NDC by the experience they have in the electoral process, their agents  presenting them at the printing presses and despite their competences, let me make this presumption that maybe they go there to sleep”, Mr. Baako claimed on Peace FM morning show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to the opposition NDC, EC is clandestinely printing excess of over 150,000 ballot papers despite agreement with political parties, the EC is required to print an extra 5 per cent of the ballot sheets for each polling station to deal with cases of spoilt ballots.

Speaking to the development on “Kokookro” political talk show, Mr. Kweku Baako stated that the NDC knows every convention about the electoral processes and that, EC cannot comprise the transparency of the elections as being claimed by elements in NDC.

“Since 1992, the NDC knows everything. They should be specific with their allegations since the election count down is closer…they should stop making unfounded allegations” he told host, Kwami Sefa Kayi during panel discussion.

Meanwhile, EC has refuted claims of attempting to rig the upcoming December 7 elections.

“The NDC alleges that the Commission has secretly increased the number of ballot papers being printed by the Assembly Press Limited, one of the printing houses selected to print the 2020 ballots. This is untrue and we entreat the Public to disregard this falsehood,” a statement from EC said.
