Bawumia attends Swearing-in of President Ruto of Kenya

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has left Accra, Ghana for Nairobi, Kenya to represent Ghana at the swearing-in of H.E. William Samoei Arap Ruto, President-elect of Kenya.

Until his election, on 15th August 2022, H.E. William Ruto served as Vice President of the Republic of Kenya.

Vice President Bawumia returns to Accra on Wednesday, 14th September.

He was accompanied by the 2nd Lady, H.E. Mrs. Samira Bawumia, Hon. Thomas Mbomba, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and other senior government officials.

It would be recalled that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia earlier this month congratulated his colleague in Kenya William Samoei Ruto who had been affirmed as President-elect.

The Kenyan Supreme Court upheld William Samoei Ruto‘s election as President.

The Chief Justice Martha Koome-led Bench unanimously threw out a petition by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition candidate Raila Odinga, who argued the declaration of Dr Ruto was null and void.

Reacting to the victory, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in a post on Facebook congratulated William Samoei Ruto.

He asked for God’s guidance as he takes the baton to serve the people of Kenya.

I congratulate the Vice President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, on being affirmed by the Supreme Court of Kenya as the President-elect of the country.

All the best as you take over the baton to serve your beloved Kenya. May God continue to guide your steps.
