The Assembly Members in Bekwai Municipal Assembly of Ashanti Region are seeking to impeach the Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) , Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour.
According to the Assembly Members, MCE’s actions in this municipal and administrative conduct on the technocrats pose a great danger to the development of the municipal and the NPP party.
They are therefore calling for a ‘Vote Of No Confidence’ against him with immediate effect.
The MCE doesn’t care or in others words disrespect towards assembly members, lack of coordination between him and the assembly members, selling of municipal grader and other 3 vehicles to unknown person and has not been accounted for , galamsey activities are all over here in Bekwai Municipal, it’s becoming dangerous to the nearby communities, They said.
Assembly members are calling for the impeachment pursuant to section 243 clause 3 of the 1992 Constitution as well as section 20 , clause 4(a) of the Local Government Act 936 of 2016.
They urge the President Of Ghana , Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the Ministry of the Local Government and Rural Development and its department and agencies that urgent attention must be given to their petition to save the Bekwai Municipal Assembly from collapsing to encourage the grassroots members of the NPP and win more vote in this upcoming general election in 2024.
