May 6, 2020, marked five years to the day since Lionel Messi famously nutmegged Jerome Boateng during Barcelona’s Champions League semi-final tie against Bayern Munich, but the German defender has reacted to the anniversary in a funny manner.

Many people chose to interact with Boateng to try and provoke a reaction, and they succeeded, although the centre-back will feel like he had the last laugh.

“Here you go – something to laugh [at during] these tough days,” Boateng tweeted.”I’ll get some popcorn meanwhile… and watch the World Cup final 2014 afterwards.”You can stop tagging me now, I know it’s five years today.”
