Bodies exhumed after tidal waves ravage Salakope, Agavadzi

Residents of Salakope and Agavadzi in the Volta Region have begun exhuming dead bodies after tidal waves swept through their towns, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

According to the residents, the tidal waves started about a week ago.

Homes have been submerged, properties lost, and livelihoods disrupted, with residents expressing frustration over the persistent nature of the crisis.

During a visit to the affected communities, Adom News’ Odehyeba Owusu Job observed that the extent of damage had left residents devastated.

In an interview, the distraught residents revealed that toilet facilities and cemeteries had been destroyed, forcing them to exhume the bodies of their loved ones.

They also raised concerns over an imminent health crisis, as some residents continue to use the polluted seawater for household chores.

As a matter of urgency, they have appealed to the government and other well-meaning Ghanaians to come to their aid.
