The police command in the Bono Region has commenced investigations into the murder of a taxi driver by two assailants who bolted with the taxicab at Wawase near Duayaw Nkwanta in the region.
A police situation report cited by ClassFMonline.com said at about 1800hrs on Thursday, 22 August 2019, one Yaw Kuma, a taxi driver of H/No.BE 112 Bechem, called at the station and reported that he was driving from Bechem toward Duayaw Nkwanta but on reaching a portion of the road at Wawase near Duayaw Nkwanta, he saw someone lying in a pool of blood.
The person, who was later identified as Solomon Tayoya, 27, signalled him to stop.
He rushed to his aid and ferried him to the St. John of God Hospital at Duayaw Nkwanta, but was pronounced dead shortly on arrival.
According to the report, Mr Kuma said the deceased told him that he had been shot and his taxicab with registration number AS 1611 – 18 stolen by two unknown male passengers who hailed his cab from Tepa/Ash and said they were going to Sunyani.
No arrests have been made yet but the police command said it has opened investigations into the matter.
