The leadership of Bono East region of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has presented some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to all 11 constituencies in the region to be distributed equitably in their respective areas.
They include veronica buckets and stands, hand washing basins, tissue papers, dustbins, liquid soaps and hand sanitizers.
The items were part of a general consignment handed to all 16 regional secretariats of the party by its General Secretary, John Boadu, some weeks ago.
Presenting the items to party’s constituency executives in Techiman on Monday May 4, 2020, the Bono East Regional of the party, Mr Thomas Adu Appiah said the donation forms part of the NPP’s commitment to lending a strong support to the national response to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
He explained that, the PPE’s doesn’t belong to the Constituency chairmen but should be at vantage zones to be used by all to help aid our fight against COVID 19 situation especially in the Region where there is no single case recorded yet hence this move.
Chairman Adu Appiah was of the view that, his party leaders to share the items appropriately and make sure they wear face mask when going out from home and charged tailors to use FDA approved materials for sewing various masks.
Chairman for Nkoranza south constituency of the NPP, Mr Clement Owusu Agyei who received the items on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude to both the national and regional executives of the party for the kind gesture, saying the donation will go a long way to help their constituents to protect themselves against the COVID-19.
Mr Owusu Agyei thanked President Akuffo Addo for the prudent measures he has put in place in this COVID 19 season and also commended the Region Chairman of the NPP for PPE’s and promised to make good use of them to benefit all individuals in their Constituencies .
For his part, Bono East Regional Communications Director for the party, Mr Addo Donkor-Everson appealed all Ghanaians devoid of their political affiliation to adhere to health safety precautions this corona season.
He urged the constituency executives to continue to educate their constituents to strictly adhere to the stay-home directive, observe social/physical distance and follow every hygienic protocol which have been outlined by the country’s health authorities.
