CEO Of Akosua Ago Disability Rights Advocacy Foundation Thanks YEA Boss For Employing PWDs

The Chief Executive Officer of Akosua Ago Disability Rights Advocacy Foundation Ms Christiana Nkrumah has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) boss, Mr Kofi Agyepong for recruiting some 282 persons with disability who were laid off by the roads and highways ministry some years back.

While not all affected PWDs have found employment in the public sector, she commended the YEA boss for their swift action.

She expressed her optimism that another cohort of the PWDs will be employed as assured by the YEA.

Ms Christiana Nkrumah encouraged individuals who have secured employment to make excellent use of their positions. Adding their inputs will justify the inclusion of their colleagues.

“We are thankful to the YEA for their intervention to recruit these first batch of the PWDs who were laid off, although we were expecting the recruitment from the Roads and Highways ministry since they laid them off, but we are thankful to them especially Mr Kofi Agyepong for the opportunity. It’s a great honour. We need to appreciate that. We have been assured of recruitment of another batch, and we know it will happen as promised. I will entreat those who have had the opportunity to be there to be disciplined and hardworking to pave the way for their colleagues,” she noted.

The CEO appealed to the public to avoid making the recruitment of PWDs a political issue. Nonetheless, it should be clarified that all individuals recruited are Ghanaians and deserve to be treated fairly.

“I will call on the public to avoid the politicisation of the recruitment of the PWDs. It is very dangerous for developing this nation,” she concluded.
