CEO of GIFEC Commends Government for Unprecedented Investment in Information Technology

 

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication, Prince Owusu Sefa, has expressed his commendations to the Akufo-Addo government for making massive financial investments in ensuring the proliferation of Information and Communications Technology education across all communities in Ghana. Speaking at the commissioning of an ultramodern community library at Bantama in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, 15th November 2023, he disclosed that the government had already established more than 1,300 of these laboratories, and was committed to adding a lot more of these facilities. He therefore recounted some of the interventions being championed by his outfit, including the expansion of Ghana’s network systems to many hard-to-reach communities, and the rollout of a training initiative to build the capacity of youths and persons living with disability. According to him, the overall agenda is to bring out their potential so they can contribute to Ghana’s development.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Ghana Library Authority, Hayford Siaw, has impressed upon all parents to let their children ppatronizethe library. He noted that the development of a habit of reading is an indisputable prerequisite for academic success; therefore, it is important for all stakeholders to make strenuous efforts to inculcate it in every individual. He added that instead of exposing children to unproductive social media platforms, parents should rather introduce their wards to the Ghana Library App. Mr. Siaw therefore commended the government for increasing the number of libraries from 61 to 127 within the last seven years, with books iover1.5 million.
