The Christian Council of Ghana has announced it will hold a week-long fasting and prayer session to beseech the face of God for peaceful December polls.
The national week of prayer and fasting will begin from Wednesday, 25 November to Sunday, 29 November 2020 across the country.
It will be held under the theme: “Seek peace and pursue it” (1st Peter 3:11) and will be climaxed with a peace rally.
A statement issued by the Christian Council and signed by its General Secretary, Reverend Dr Cyril G.K. Fayose, said: “We, the leaders of the Christian Ecumenical Bodies in Ghana, deem it a responsibility to mobilise Christians for prayer and sensitise them to work toward peaceful elections in the country.”
“On Sunday, November 29, all Christians in Accra will gather at the Perez Dome for a peace rally. Christians in the other regions will gather at a church auditorium in their respective regions to do same.
“The day will be used to proclaim peace for our nation and the flagbearers will be called upon to affirm their commitment to peaceful elections,” the statement revealed.
The Christian Council earlier launched a peace campaign dubbed: ‘Say Yes to Peace’, to promote peace before, during and after the December polls.
