Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Hon. Joe Ghartey, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the launch of the Citizen App, saying the App which will positively transform the future of Ghana.
Hon. Ghartey delivering a speech at the launch of the Citizen App in Accra recently, said the app “represents not only an important step forward for the digital transformation of Ghana but it represents the future of Ghana.”
According to him, the app will lead Ghanaians to a future where they see a completely transformed nation.
He applauded President Nana Akufo-Addo Vice President Bawumia for the strides they have made so far in transforming the nation digitally.
On revenue generation, he said the app will greatly impact tax collection, recounting that in July this year, GRA exceeded its revenue collection target.
Again, he said GRA has exceeded the revenue collection target for the third quarter of the year, representing a 38.6 percent growth over the same period in 2023.
He explained that the success in tax collection this year was achieved in a “more business friendly manner” unlike the brutal approach in previous years.
He said GRA has used “education, engagement” and “digitalization” in achieving its revenue collection target.
