Condition In Islam That Allows A Woman To Marry Her Daughter’s Suitor or Even Husband

Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian activist, has taken to Twitter to outline the requirements for a man to marry the mother of his ex or his wife’s girlfriend. According to Vanguard, Hisbah in Kano State reportedly freed a mother who had married her daughter’s suitor the day before.

Aisha said in a tweet that it was perfectly acceptable in Islam. She explained that as long as the marriage or relationship has not been consummated, it is still permissible for the suitor and the woman’s daughter to marry. Marriage between them is now forbidden once it has been consummated, the author explained.

Recall that the Kano State Hisbah was investigating Malama Khadija Rano after she divorced her husband and married the man who was courting her daughter.

What Vanguard reported yesterday is as follows: Ahmed claimed that Khadija had been divorced by her husband and had observed the three-month waiting period (iddah) prescribed by Islam. She then married a man her biological daughter had earlier rejected.
