Convid-19: VVU Techiman Campus suspends face to face lectures, as Lectures go Online

Ghana’s Premier Chattered Private University, Valley View University (VVU), Techiman Campus, in accordance with the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo’s Press briefing, has suspended all physical contacts and gatherings including face to face lectures.

On Sunday, the 15th of March, 2019, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo around 10pm in his statement to the Ghanaian populace said that

“ All Universities, high school, and basic schools, that is, public and private schools, will be closed Monday, 16th March, 2020 till further notice.”

Our checks on VVU, Techiman Campus, from an insider information , the University is likely to switch to online studies. We are well informed that Valley View University already have a fully established online system where students could join online classes for discussions. This has been practiced especially with the distance school where the University merges both face to face and online studies.

The Rector of the Campus, Prof. (Pr.) Peter Agyekum Boateng, recently in a press release hinted the Campus of some measures to be put in place to protect its community members, and this began with the hard decision of suspending its 2019/2020 Matriculation.

“Due to the current world crises (COVID-19), the headship of VVU has suspended the impending *Techiman Campus matriculation*, slated for Thursday, March 19, 2020. *Alternative arrangements* and other decisions with regard to protecting us from the virus shall be communicated shortly” (Prof Peter Agyekum Boateng).

Right after this publication by the Rector of the Campus, a notification from the Vice Rector of the Campus, Mr. Luther Ntim Adjei, to all Academic Coordinators, hinted that classes should be suspended m. The notification is quoted as ;

“Dear Coordinator, please inform all Lecturers in your department that VVU will act in accordance with the president’s directives. *All classes are suspended, effective today until further notice.*

No one should force students into any class anytime. *It’s absolutely NO CLASS.*

Let’s also follow all the protocols in order to be safe.

Meanwhile, both lecturers and students should standby for further information on online teaching. Our prayers are with all of you. Thank you.”

Our sources also received an information sent out by the University headquarters Registrar to Faculty members suspending all lectures and also engage in an ad-hoc meeting for further decisions to be taken. The notice reads as;

Good morning Faculty.

Sequel to the directive of President Akufo-Addo to close all public and private schools and universities last night, VVU is closed with immediate effect. There will be no lectures until further notice. Meanwhile, the Pro VC will meet faculty this morning at the Seth Laryea Multipurpose Hall for an important meeting.

Valley View University is one of the few institutions that have quickly come out to throw their full support to the measures put in place by the Nana Addo led government against the spreading of the pandemic disease, Convid-19

We are also well informed that the Administrative Committee of Valley View University (ADCOM) at the University headquarters, Oyibi, may probably by the close of today, Monday, 16th March, 2020, release its modalities put in place to save the situation.
