COVID-19: Asantehene donates GH1m to support the needy during lockdown period

The Omanhene of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made plans to donate an amount to the tune of GH1m to support the needy during the lockdown period.

In an interview with My News Ghana, the Personal Assistant to Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, Kwame Aboagye Mensah revealed that the Asantehene wishes to help the poor, needy and homeless in these trying times.

He further revealed that the said amount would come also in the form of relief items for the needy in the Asanteman kingdom.

Some of the items to be distributed are gallons of oil, tomatoes, mackerel, sardines, salt, sachet and bottled water, hand sanitizers,soaps, vegetables, fruits, and many other items.

He said, “There are some persons who will not be able to afford square meals during these trying times so Otumfuo decided that we reach out to such people and help them out in order to keep them alive hoping the virus ends soon.”
