Ghana has recorded 427 new cases of COVID-19 within the last two days shooting the total number of cases to 5, 127, the Ghana Health Service(GHS) has announced.
According to the Director-General of GHS, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, out of the 427 cases, 272 came from Obuasi in the Ashanti region alone.
Addressing a press conference Tuesday he disclosed that recoveries still remain at 494 with another 130 patients awaiting their second negative test to be declared recovered. 22 people have so far died from the killer bug with active cases at 4, 611.
Dr Kuma-Aboagye stated that the Tema metropolis has become a major hotspot for the disease deadly, adding that attention has been focused on Tema to ensure there’s no further spread of the virus there.
In the Ashanti region, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, all in Kumasi and Obuasi are the major hotspots. In the Volta region, Ketu South is the major hotspot with some cases from Kpando.
