COVID-19: Napo discharged from UGMC

The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoko-Prempeh, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra.

A statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Minister, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, noted that his boss has been discharged “with a positive rapid antibody test result and will be further monitored.”

Dr Opoku-Prempeh is currently “at home resting and would like to thank all those who wished him well during his time in hospital.”

The minister was detained at the UGMC as part of precautionary measures, for further observation in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, 16 June 2020, he underwent tests, including COVID-19, after feeling unwell for a couple of days.
