Brother of Afenyo-Markin ‘terrorises’ residents of Otinibi over lands

Residents of Otinibi in the La-Nkwantanang Municipality are calling on government to intervene and correct what they have described as a misuse of power.

Daniel Markin, brother of Effutu Constituency MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has been reported as having invaded the community, escorted by some military personnel and brutalized residents with the reason that he has ownership of the lands.

Mr. Markin reportedly requested that residents in the Otinibi area evacuate their buildings because his company, Markin Hills Limited, has lawfully bought the said lands.

Houses on the land have since been pulled down to allow developers proceed with construction work.

The new owner of the lands, Daniel Markins, claims that he acquired it from the people of Adomrobe who are believed to be the real owners of the lands, adding that he has documents to prove this.

A resident and eye witness who wants government and the public’s attention on the issue narrated in a video, how more than 500 houses on the lands are now in the possession of Daniel Markins.

Oheneba Boamah Bennie explained that the new owners have constructed a wall around the land, this development has curtailed the movement of residents.
