Men of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have rescued seven kidnap victims during an exchange of gunfire with suspected kidnappers at the Pegi ares of the FCT.

The operatives from the Pegi Division also gunned down a notorious kidnapper, Umar Bappa, aka  Maishede Blakie, during the operation, while his gang members fled into the bush.

A statement on Tuesday, by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said one AK-47 rifle,  locally-made firearms, ammunition, 15 AK-47 magazines, suspected fake military camouflage, drugs,  six mobile phones and N47,000 cash were recovered from the hoodlums.

It explained that the victims, who were rescued unhurt, were taken to hospital for medical attention after which they were reunited with their families.

“Efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the gang,” Miss Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.

The statement further said that the command has commenced investigations into the reported abduction of a doctor and five others in Chikuku village of the FCT.
