Woman drowns son in well over father neglect in Somanya

A woman identified only as Rita has been arrested by the Somanya Police Command for dumping her five-year-old son into an abandoned well over neglect by his father.

Emmanuel Tetteh, a freelance Journalist in the area told Starr News scanty information gathered indicates the mother went on a local Information Center three days ago that the deceased was missing hence called for public support in searching for his whereabouts.

However, upon further interrogation by family members and a Pastor who were suspicious, the suspect allegedly admitted to dumping him into an abandoned well because the father of the decease boy has shirked responsibility of taking care of him.

She led the family members to the scene Tuesday morning at Ogorme, a suburb of Somanya.

The deceased was found drowned in the well with a rope around the neck.

She is currently behind bars assisting in investigations while efforts are underway to retrieve the body of the deceased.

Many residents have trooped to the scene to catch a glimpse of the barbaric incident.
