Dead Bagbin’s dispatch rider was energetic, dedicated and served many Speakers – Kate Addo

A convoy made up of an advanced security team of Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has been involved in an accident leading to the death of the Police outrider.

The team was headed to Wa to await the arrival of the Speaker. Upon reaching Konongo, a vehicle allegedly run into the convoy killing the rider instantly.

“This [Chief Inspector Abednego Kaakyire] is somebody who has been with us since 2009. …Somebody who has been here for a long time in spite of parliament probably” Kate Addo in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com revealed

The convoy of the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has been involved in an accident that occurred around 9 am on Friday at Juaso in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti region

His dispatch rider, Chief Inspector Kaakyire Abednego has been confirmed dead; the Speaker and other members in the motorcade however escaped unscathed.

Eyewitnesses say the dispatch rider ran into a Toyota Corolla salon car which had refused to give way despite the warnings from the sirens.

An eyewitness said the dispatch rider after colliding with the salon car veered off the road and crashed into a stationary articulated truck; the motorbike and the truck both caught fire immediately, killing the police officer in the process.

The Speaker was reportedly on his way to Wa in the Upper West Region for an official assignment when the accident occurred.
