Delta variant strikes at GIJ Campus after Miss Communication finals

Information reaching AnfrebeatNews indicates that several students of Ghana Institute of Journalism(GIJ) are set to be quarantined after some students tested positive for the virus during the school SRC week celebrations. 

From which the news team has gathered, the said students contacted the virus during the face-to-face lectures .

Sources says some students were not observing the covid-19 protocol during the miss communication final Saturday night which was held at the new campus at Dzorwulu.

Some students have expressed their fear of not joining the face-to-face class after the news broke out and call on management and the school authorities to begin with online classes before the end of the 2nd semester.

Students are still at home over the UTAG strike which has affected students’ studies and are calling the management of the school authorities to migrate the 2nd semester to online to avoid the spread of the virus.

Ghana seems to be facing a third wave of coronavirus infections driven by the more transmissible delta variant.

Ghana has seen over 6,000 Covid-19 cases, including 823 deaths, since the first case was reported.  According to Akufo-Addo who described the trend as alarming. The delta variant has led in recent weeks to a rise in severe cases and deaths.
