Musician turned political activist, Kwame A Plus has questioned why Ghanaians obeyed the lockdown directives of Otumfuor Osei Tutu II during the death of his mother but refused to obey the president’s COVID-19 lockdown directives.
According to A Plus, the whole of the Ashanti Region went dead when Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, queen mother of Ashanti Kingdom, died.
Contrary to that many Ghanaians including those in Kumasi, refused to follow the president’s orders when he initiated the partial lockdown in major cities in Ghana.
He reckoned the power of traditional authorities in Ghana concluding that there is fear for traditional rulers in Ghana than political rulers.
“Why did people stay home during Otumour’s Mother’s funeral but refused to stay home when the president asked them to?… Why do people obey ban on drumming in Accra but disobey the president?”,
he asked.
