Double agony: Mother of slain driver at Adomfe buries husband this weekend (Audio)

Grief-stricken mother of the 33-year-old driver, Kofi Ampoma, allegedly beaten to death by police at Adomfe in the Ashanti region is demanding transparent investigations and subsequent prosecution of those involved.

Inconsolable Sister Atta said the police had robbed her off a very good son who was her only source of livelihood after losing her husband who will be buried this weekend.

“I’m finished! The police has killed me; ah my son is innocent,” she cried during an emotional interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Friday.

Mr Ampoma, popularly known as ‘Barluso’, died after some police officers assaulted him for being a suspected drug peddler.

The officers involved named General Sergeant, Suleman Seidu; General Corporal, Seth Agbango and General Lance, Corporal Salifu Yakubu have been interdicted pending investigations.

But Sis Atta is demanding more action from the police to clear the name of her son.

He said the late Mr Ampoma is a devout Christian and played an instrumental role at the Adomfe branch of the Methodist Church, Ghana.

“My son can never deal in drugs; it is impossible. He is a very good Christian who is dedicated to the work of God,” she added.

Sister Atta, who is also a widow, said the family is shattered since her husband will be laid to rest this weekend.

“My agony is now double because I’m burying my husband this weekend and the police have also killed my son,” she bemoaned.

The deceased left behind two children aged three and 10 and a wife.
