Dr. Aheto deserves Nobel Prize in ‘Phantom Statistics – Gabby mocks NDC Statistician

Staunch Member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has taken a subtle jab at Dr. Justice Moses K. Aheto, a biostatistician who was key in the collation of votes of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying that he deserves the Nobel Prize for Phantom Statistics for convincing the NDC that errors in the results of the 2020 presidential elections could lead to an invalidation of the victory of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Dr Justice Moses K. Aheto was key in collation the results of the presidential election and led the party in discussing the errors of the Electoral Commission, which he claimed showed that neither President Akufo-Addo nor former President John Mahama secured more than 50% of the valid votes cast to win the presidential election.

Former President John Mahama’s petition makes the same claim praying the Supreme Court to cause a rerun of the presidential election since based on the figures provided by the Electoral Commission itself, none of the presidential candidates won the election.

But Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has mocked Dr Aheto for misleading the NDC and John Mahama into presenting a petition to the Supreme Court based on his calculations.

“This gentleman is the Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss of the NDC. The mathematical genius extraordinaire who, with admirable sanguinity, convinced a former president and a former legal wizard to believe that they could go to the Supreme Court and secure a runoff over a mere slip of tongue.

Well, Gauss was famous for “managing errors in observation.” This NDC brain box observed errors in the Dec 9 declaration and cleverly calculated on the abacus of optimism that the petitioner could manage to use the errors as material votes to invalidate Akufo-Addo’s victory.

He deserves the Nobel Prize for Phantom Statistics! Join me petition Oslo,” Mr Asare Otchere-Darko wrote on social media.

Dr Justice Moses K Aheto is currently a Lecturer Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Ghana.
