Afro-Arab Group CEO urges young Africans to embrace humble beginnings and big visions at prestigious continental event in Accra.

President and Founder of the Afro-Arab Group of Companies, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu, has delivered a powerful message of ambition and humility to young people across Africa, urging them to “dream big, but start small.”

He made the statement at the 2025 edition of the 100 Most Influential Young Leaders awards hosted by the Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation. The ceremony took place at the British Council auditorium in Accra, Ghana, and brought together top young changemakers from across the continent.

Ambassador Salamu Amadu, one of the evening’s most celebrated honorees, was recognized for his unwavering contributions to youth empowerment in Ghana and beyond. Awardees from countries such as South Sudan, Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania were also honored at the continental gathering.

A Message Rooted in Experience

In his address to the audience, the young business magnate and social advocate shared personal insights from his entrepreneurial journey and emphasized the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and strategic growth.

“I’m deeply honored by this recognition,” he said. “And I want to use this moment to speak directly to the youth of Africa dream big, but always remember to start small. It is through small, consistent steps that great achievements are built.”

He continued, “We must believe in our ability to shape the future, but also be realistic in our approach. Many great visions die because we want to start at the top. Start where you are, use what you have, and grow from there.”

Champion for Youth Empowerment and Peace

Beyond business, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu is widely known for his advocacy and commitment to youth development. He currently serves as the Youth Ambassador for Peace and Development, a title that reflects his strong dedication to promoting unity, civic responsibility, and nation-building among the youth.

He has consistently used his platform to preach peace, particularly during politically tense periods in Ghana. Notably, he was actively involved in calling for calm and national cohesion before, during, and after the December 7th general elections, urging young people to resist violence and instead become champions of democracy and progress.

His work in this area has earned him immense respect across political and social lines, further cementing his role as a trusted voice for the next generation.

From Mamobi to National Impact

Ambassador Amadu’s own life is a model of the “start small” philosophy. Born and raised in Mamobi, one of Accra’s densely populated inner-city communities, he rose from modest beginnings to become a national business leader.

As the Founder of the Afro-Arab Group of Companies, a fast-growing Ghanaian conglomerate with interests in microfinance, real estate, logistics, and sports, he has created hundreds of jobs and opportunities for Ghanaian youth.

Through Afro-Arab Microfinance, in particular, he has empowered young entrepreneurs with access to capital and business training, especially those from underserved backgrounds.

Recognition for Transformational Leadership

The 100 Most Influential Young Leaders awards aim to celebrate trailblazers under 40 who are making measurable impact across Africa. Ambassador Salamu Amadu’s inclusion among this year’s awardees was widely praised.

In presenting the honor, organizers cited his “unflappable commitment to youth empowerment, peace promotion, and economic transformation” as key reasons for the recognition.

“His influence extends beyond the boardroom,” said a representative of the Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation. “Ambassador Salamu Amadu represents what it means to lead by example and use success as a tool for societal advancement.”

A Call to Action for Africa’s Youth

In his remarks after receiving the award, Ambassador Amadu challenged young Africans not to be deterred by their current circumstances, but rather to cultivate bold visions with disciplined execution.

“This award is not just about me it’s about every young person out there who dares to dream,” he stated. “To the youth of Africa: the road may be long, and the beginning may be small, but don’t give up. With vision, discipline, and faith, you will get there.”

He also called on governments and private sector leaders to deepen investment in youth-led innovation and empowerment.

“Africa’s greatest resource is its youth. We must support them not only with encouragement but with tangible opportunities. Empower the youth and you empower the continent,” he emphasized.

Pan-African Celebration of Young Leaders

This year’s event attracted a vibrant mix of young professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and creatives from across the continent. The awards celebrated excellence in various sectors including technology, governance, health, education, business, and arts.

Delegates from over 15 African countries, including Nigeria, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya, participated in the event, making it a true showcase of Africa’s rich human capital.

Each recipient was selected after a rigorous evaluation process focusing on their social impact, leadership record, and commitment to change-making.

Inspiration for the Future

For many attendees, Ambassador Salamu Amadu’s message struck a deeply personal chord, reinforcing the idea that true leadership begins with service and consistent self-growth.

“I came here looking for motivation, and I found it in Ambassador Salamu,” said one young participant from Kenya. “He reminded me that we don’t have to wait to be great. We just need to start.”

As Africa continues to navigate complex development challenges, voices like his serve as a much-needed beacon for the next generation—proving that with vision, character, and community, anything is possible.

Conclusion

With his message to “dream big but start small” and a legacy rooted in peace, development, and empowerment, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu continues to shine as one of Africa’s most inspiring young leaders. His story and service are not only shaping lives but also paving the way for a more inclusive and hopeful African future.
