Eid al-Adha celebrations: Twimea Nkwanta Youth Association and Destiny Agrochemicals support over 200 Muslim widows in Techiman

The Twimea Nkwanta Youth Association, in collaboration with Destiny Agrochemicals, have donated food items to more than 200 Muslim widows in Techiman South as part of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Each widow received two 5kg bags of rice, five litres of cooking oil, and a live chicken, with beneficiaries drawn from selected communities across the municipality.

The initiative was led by the President of the Twimea Nkwanta Youth Association and CEO of Destiny Agrochemicals, Kalifa Mohammed, popularly known as Destiny. The donation, now in its seventh consecutive year, aims to bring comfort and joy to widows during festive seasons.

In an interview with the media, Destiny explained that in previous years, the donations were made at the end of the year and included both Muslim and Christian widows. However, this year, the team made a deliberate decision to honor Muslim widows separately in recognition of the Eid al-Adha celebration.

“This is something I do annually, it has been seven years since I started this initiative, previously, I used to visit our widows at their various homes and present the items to them but this time around my team decided it will be best if we bring them all together at one place and donate the items to them.

“We used to do it at the end of each year but again, we decided to separate the Muslims from the Christians that is where it is only Muslims who are present here, we want to put a smile on our Muslim widows as we celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha.” He stated.

Sharing the inspiration behind the initiative, Destiny reflected on his personal experience growing up: “My mother is a widow, I lost my father at a very early age and the burden of raising five children fell on my mother, I saw the struggles she went through just to provide our basic needs, so I understand the plight of widows and that is why I have make it my life mission to at least put a smile on their faces once a year.”

He used the occasion to call on individuals, organizations, and businesses in Techiman to join the effort to support widows in the community.

“We’re urging all well-meaning individuals to join this campaign. Widows are a vulnerable group. It doesn’t take much to make a difference. If we all come together, we can build a more caring and compassionate society.” he said.

Many of the beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation as they received the items, several women offered heartfelt prayers and blessings for Kalifa Mohammed and the members of the Youth Association, asking for divine protection, prosperity, and continued strength to sustain their humanitarian work.

“Destiny is like a son to us. His kindness every year shows he truly understands our struggles. May Allah continue to lift him higher and protect his business so he can keep helping more people.” A beneficiary told our reporter.

Others said, “Today I feel seen, I feel valued. This is not just food; it is love and respect. May Allah reward Destiny and the Youth Association a thousand times over. Their reward will come from heaven.” May Allah richly bless Kalifa Mohammed and his entire team. This support means everything to us. He has remembered us when many have forgotten. We pray that Allah grants him long life and success in all his endeavors.”
