Eschew litigations, Chieftaincy Violence To Enhance Development – Ahanta Chiefs Urged

Paramount Chief for Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V has admonished his colleague Chiefs in Ahantaland to eschew litigations and chieftaincy related violence, as those could obstruct communal cohesion and development.

Nana Kobina Nketsiah V recounted that Ahantas are civil and have long been a peaceful ethnic group in Ghanaian history.

Speaking at a durbar to climax the 2019 MTN Essikado Kuntum Festival, the Overlord of Essikado [British Sekondi] cried that Ahantas in recent times are notoriously becoming violent.

His comment comes after recent chieftaincy violence that erupted in Upper and Lower Dixcove Traditonal areas of the Western Region.

“Ahantas are peaceful. If we weren’t we wouldn’t have gotten Takoradi. But now we’ve been engulfed in disputes. What is it! What is it!!What is it!!!” he cried.

“We’ve become a feuding society. Where are we taking this? The stool is meant to unite our people, to bring about development. Why then should we let disputes take over?” Nana Kobina Nketsiah V lamented.

Nana Kobina Nketsiah V continued that the Western Region is blessed with its people and resources and that “we only need peace to transform what God has blessed us with for good”.
