Fear grips residents of Klagon following disappearance of a teenager

Residents of Klagon in the Tema West municipality say the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy, Benjamin Tetteh Ocloo from the area has left them in a state of fear.

The children especially say they do not feel safe.

The teenager left home to play football on a community park on January 31, 2020 and has since not returned.

A search conducted by family and loved ones in the last 10 days has yielded no results.

The community members are calling on police in the area to do more in helping find the missing child.

As they chanted through the streets during a vigil, one of the residents told JoyNews: “we beg anybody who has found him to take him to the nearest police station.”

Another expressed her feeling of insecurity adding that “we can’t even allow our children to go out and play.”

Mother of the missing teenager, Emma Bosompra shares how tiring the search has been since her son went missing.

“We have been walking around from Kpone to the GTP roundabout,” she said.

The visibly distraught guardian said: “As for the police, they asked me to come on Tuesday but I didn’t. They later followed up with a call and I told them I wasn’t encouraged by their actions. But they, again, asked me to come and have now assigned a CID to the case.”

The police say it will speak to the issue later on Tuesday.
