Fire destroys 18 cars, mechanic shops at Suame Magazine

At least 18 cars and 14 spare parts and mechanic shops have been burnt by fire at Suame magazine zone 11 in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region.

A clinic, God’s Glory Clinic at the mechanic enclave was also razed by the inferno.

Eyewitnesses told Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah that the fire started from one of the shops and swept through others around 7:30pm on Saturday, 15 February 2020.

Swift response by the firefighters controlled it from further spreading.

Properties amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis including cars, spare parts, mechanic tools and equipment, among others were lost in the inferno.

The cause of the fire is not known; however, the Ghana National Fire Service has commenced investigations to unravel it.

No casualties were recorded.

This is the second fire outbreak recorded within two days in the region.

Hundreds of structures which served as abode to “Kayayie” and scrap dealers at Dagombaline within the Kumasi Metropolis were razed by fire on Friday, 14 February 2020.

Some of the affected Artisans and mechanics pleaded with the government and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to their aid.
