Fire Service Recruitment Controversy: Abuakwa South NDC Demands Transparency And Accountability

A fresh controversy has emerged in the wake of the new administration’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the recruitment process of the Ghana Fire Service.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Communication Officer for Abuakwa South, Aikins Ofori, has raised concerns over the issuance of recruitment letters to individuals for training at the newly established Fire Service Training Center in Kyebi, Eastern Region.

The Ghana Fire Service has been issuing letters, backdated to November 2024, to recruits in 2025, sparking allegations of a deliberate attempt to undermine the administration of President John Dramani Mahama. “This is unacceptable, and we won’t entertain any deliberate attempt to frustrate the governance of H.E. John Dramani Mahama,” Aikins Ofori stated. “We call on the leadership to tread cautiously and address this issue immediately.”

Failure to address the issue promptly would have serious consequences. The constituency is demanding an immediate halt to the issuance of recruitment letters, citing concerns over potential manipulation or unfair advantage.

Transparency and accountability are essential in the recruitment process. The NDC Abuakwa South Constituency is urging the Ghana Fire Service to re-examine its recruitment process and ensure that all applicants are given a fair chance. The constituency remains resolute in its pursuit of transparency and accountability.
