Former Kotoko winger Joseph Amoako jailed in Sweden for rape

Ghanaian footballer Joseph Amoako, who currently resides in Sweden, has been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl and has been sentenced to two years in prison.The Asante Kotoko former footballer will also be banned from the Scandinavian country after serving his sentence. Amoako won’t be allowed to enter Sweden for 10 years.

Despite his denials, the 19-year-old has been charged with rape.

According to the Helsingborg District Court, the Ghanaian must pay the girl SEK 215,000 in compensation.

The Ghana international will no longer play for his club, Helsingborgs IF, as a result of his arrest.

Amoako left Asante Kotoko at the start of 2022 and now plays for the Swedish team.
